| Tek Training is owned by Andy Wilson.
The following is a brief description of his diving career:
1993 - I
completed my PADI Open Water, Advanced Open Water,
Rescue Diver and a host of specialty courses as well
as completing one of
the
first PADI
Nitrox
Diver
courses. By the end of 1995
I qualify as a PADI Divemaster.
1994 - Nitrox
is the gas that people had called "Devil
Gas",
and it is now being promoted by one of the largest recreational
diver training agencies
in the
world. I'm an avid reader of an american magazine called
Aqua Corps, they talk about a new style of diving
called "Technical
Diving".
1995 - Most
of the wrecks I want to dive are deeper than the recreational
diving depth limit so I gain
IANTD (International Association 0f Technical Divers) Advanced
Nitrox and Technical Diver qualifications and
spend the next
few years gaining twinset experience diving the various quarry's
around the UK.
1996 - I
meet Alex Vassalo of Custom Divers at the IANTD Tech conference
and begin helping
him
at the
UK
dive
shows, this helps me meet other technical divers and pursue my
interest further.
1997 - I
travel to Key West, Florida USA and dive with Billy Deans
and his team. Billy was the Vice President of
IANTD and was
influential in helping me refine my Technical diving equipment.
At the
IANTD Tech conference in April I dive Dave Thomson's prototype
closed circuit rebreather, "The Inspiration", Richard
Pyle also attends with his MK5P CIS Lunar CCR.
1998 - I become certified
as an IANTD Trimix Diver
1999 - Trimix
is getting expensive as my dives get deeper and bottom times
get longer so I purchase an Inspiration
CCR. I make the decision to teach
diving for a living and complete the
PADI
Open Water Scuba Instructor Course.
2000 - I
become certified as an IANTD Nitrox, Advanced Nitrox, Oxygen Service
Tech, Nitrox
Gas Blender, Trimix Gas Blender and Inspiration CCR Instructor.
2001 - I
become certified as a PADI Master Scuba Diver Trainer and DAN (Divers
Alert Network) Instructor and cross
over to teach with TDI (Technical Diving International). Over
the next
few
years I complete
Instructor
training
at all levels.
2002 - I
attend an IT (Instructor Trainer) workshop at DAN Headquarters
and gain IT qualifications at all levels.
2003 - I attend an IT workshop at TDI
Headquarters and gain an IT qualifications with TDI and SDI (Scuba
Diving International)
at all levels.
2005 - At
the start of the year I become one
of the first instructors in Europe teaching the Megalodon
CCR and get offered a position on the Training Advisory
Board of TDI. Myself and a colleague write
the new TDI standards & procedures for
the
Inspiration and Evolution CCR at all levels.
2006 - I move to live in Sharm El Sheikh, Egypt. As well as running various Technical Diver and Instructor courses for Tek Training I work as an independent Instructor & Instructor Trainer for two of the largest diving centres in Sharm.
2008 - After spending two years teaching in Sharm El Sheikh, Egypt I decided to return to the UK to teach. |
