October 2007 - Mohammad Khattam from beruit, Lebanon who is currently the Middle East Open Circuit Solo Scuba Depth record holder at 220 metres, recently Mohammad completed his Megalodon CCR & Megalodon CCR Normoxic Trimix course with Tek Training.
Mohammad will use his Megalodon CCR for his next record atempt of 250 metres. After making a decent to 250 metres on Open Circuit Scuba, Mohammad will acsent to around 30 metres and two Megalodon support divers will help him change from his Open Circuit equipment to his Megalodon to complete a lengthy decompression profile.
Decompressing on Closed Circuit Rebreathers is fastly becoming a new trend for depth record atempts using Open Circuit Scuba, but because Hypercapnia can become an issue at extreme depths on Closed Circuit Rebreathers divers tends to be rule them out for the whole dive. But the advantages of minimal gas usage, maintaining a fixed PO2, the ability to keep a divers core temperature warm and their body hydrated is a major advantage over Open Circuit Scuba. After many years of looking for a Closed Circuit Rebreather to complete his next record Mohammad finally decided after many e-mails to Tek Training to go for the Megalodon CCR over many other units on the market today. For information on Mohammads recent 220 metre dive see the "TDI Middle East Website".
